The method
Three things, always considered together.
Most styling advice fixes one variable. A colour analysis tells you what suits your skin. A body-shape guide tells you what suits your frame. Neither tells you what to actually wear on Tuesday. My method looks at all three at once – colour, proportion and style personality – because that is the only way the answers stop contradicting each other.
Lens one
Colour
Your season within the 12-season system, and what it means in practice: the shades that make you look rested, the ones that flatten you, and the neutrals you can build everything else on. Not a fan deck you will never open again – a written palette with the colours named, so you can shop from it.
This is where every service starts, because it is the layer that governs all the others. Get it wrong and the best-fitting jacket in the world is still the wrong jacket.
Lens two
Shape & proportion
Where your waist sits, how your shoulders and hips relate, how long your legs read against your torso. From that: the necklines, hem lengths, rises and silhouettes that work with your frame rather than against it.
It is the least glamorous part of the method and the one that changes the most. Most of the time, “I don’t suit that” really means “that length doesn’t suit my proportions”.
Lens three
Style personality
The part that stops a wardrobe being technically correct but completely unlike you. How you want to be read, what you will actually reach for, and what you will never wear however well it fits.
This is also where your life gets accounted for – the school run, the desk, the dinner, the budget. A capsule that ignores any of those is a capsule you abandon by March.
Any one of these on its own gives you a rule.
All three together give you a wardrobe.
Written down, not talked at.
Everything reaches you as a written guide you keep – your palette, your proportions, your capsule and your outfits. For the standard services there is no session to schedule and nothing to take notes on.
You read it, you shop from it, and you come back to it next season. That is the point of doing the thinking properly once.
